Hello Velo,

We’re back for another week of the Social Digest.

Spring has certainly sprung. In what was yet another eventful week in the cycling world. We saw a plethora of hype content around the impending Paris-Roubaix, rising star Juan Ayuso inspired the next generation after his recent successes, and WorldTour riders smashed some Strava segments at Milan-San Remo. We also saw the feel-good story of the month where the gift of a bike lifted the spirts of one Los Angeles County resident.

Let’s dive in.

Hell (of the North) yeah

Nothing more exciting than seeing the two biggest contenders in the sport right now get ready to battle each other on the French cobbles.

Will this be the most exciting one-day race of 2025? Hard to imagine anything could be more exciting than this year’s Strade Bianche, but my sources say yes.

Strava segments smashed

Although  Tadej Pogačar didn’t win Milano–San Remo, he did win on Strava. He snatched the Cipressa KOM in 8 minutes and 59 seconds. Meanwhile, new crowns were claimed on verified Segments for the women of Milan-San Remo.

Demi Vollering now owns the QOM on the Poggio and Ane Santesteban edged out the field to take the Cipressa.

Feel-good story: ‘I’m going riding today’

Giant Bicycles share a special moment from The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this month. They gifted a man named Wesley Stewart a Giant Defy Advanced 1 after he lost his previous Giant Defy Advanced 2 as well as his home in the Altadena fire in Los Angeles County.

“This story is a powerful reminder of the resilience, generosity, and strength of our community,” Giant said on Instagram.

Among all the heaviness that surrounds the LA community, which is still dealing with impacts of these devastating wildfires, it’s nice to see the gift of a bike bring some joy. Shortly after receiving his new bike, Stewart simply responded by saying, “I’m going riding today.”

Ayuso is for the kids

Juan Ayuso has been lighting up the tarmac lately, and his fans are taking note. Specifically his next generation fans. Kids flocked to the 22-year-old Spaniard asking for photos and autographs during the Volta a Catalunya. He was certainly the man to see on this day.

I’m sensing this is just the beginning of greatness for Ayuso.

Paris-Roubaix cobble renovation

Friends of Paris-Roubaix (as they like to call themselves) are gearing up for everyone’s favorite spring race in just two weeks. This means a tune-up and realignment of the famous cobbled sectors.

Ineos Grenadiers are heating up

Caleb Ewan certainly spoke into existence that success would come for him.

Roughly eight hours after posting his “first day with Ineos Grenadiers” post, he won stage 1 at Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali in Italy.

Will we see more from the Aussie? Time will tell but one thing is certain: the British team is making a major comeback from their disappointing 2024 season.

BTS at Milan- San Remo

Speaking of Ineos, you can get behind the scenes with them. Relive the wild and emotional race that was the 2025 edition of Milan San-Remo where Filippo Gana landed on the podium of La Primavera.

Full video on their YouTube channel.

Don’t forget about Remco

Remco Evenepoel is “counting down the days” until he can return to competition. He’s here to remind everyone not to forget about him as he plans to return to the roads in one more month.

Primož can’t forget his roots

While actively sitting in the interview seat after winning the Volta a Catalunya on Sunday, Primož Roglič  could not resist tuning in to watch his old passion.

Roglič left his career behind as a ski jumper to turn to pro cycling in 2013, but he’ll never forget (and clearly won’t stop supporting) where his athletic career started.

MVDP is a fan favorite for a reason

Last but certainly not least, Mathieu van der Poel reminded us just why the fans love him so much. After his big win at the E3 Saxo Classic, MvdP gave his fans a podium finish to remember.

That’s all this week, thanks for reading!
