Newcastle United express interest in signing AC Milan striker Tammy Abraham

Newcastle United are among several Premier League clubs interested in signing AC Milan striker Tammy Abraham.

Eddie Howe remains keen on bolstering his forward department this summer, with Alexander Isak heavily linked with an exit. Moreover, Callum Wilson is expected to depart St James’ Park on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Isak, in particular, has emerged as a target for Liverpool in recent weeks, while Arsenal continues to monitor him ahead of a possible blockbuster summer swoop. The Sweden international has been in sensational form this season, netting 19 goals in 25 Premier League games. As he is contracted until 2028, the Magpies find themselves in a strong negotiating position.

There is no doubt Newcastle wish to keep Isak and will be in commanding position to do so if they qualify for the Champions League. Testing Newcastle’s resolve will require a mammoth bid, but if the 25-year-old departs, finding a new No.9 will be a priority for the club bosses before the 2025/26 season commences.

Keeping that in mind, Newcastle have reportedly set their sights on Tammy Abraham as a potential replacement for Isak. Transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the English striker’s future amid interest from a host of English top-flight clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

“It’s a possibility, but all depends on Milan now. They must decide whether they want to keep him from Roma or let him go back to the club, and it will be up to the new director they’re about to appoint soon,” Fabrizio Romano wrote in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

Tammy Abraham linked with Newcastle move

Abraham left Chelsea in 2021 for Serie A in search for regular game time, joining AS Roma before moving to AC Milan on loan last summer. The 11-cap England international has struggled to make a mark at AC Milan, scoring only two goals in 22 Serie A appearances thus far.

A return to England could be on the cards for the 27-year-old, who is currently on loan at Milan from Roma. Apart from Newcastle, West Ham United and Everton have also shown an interest in signing Abraham. Milan may also look to sign him on a permanent deal from Roma at the end of the season.

Having proven himself in Serie A, the Camberwell-born talent could be keen on a return to the Premier League. Given his profile and experience, Abraham would be a good fit at Newcastle. He has netted 90 goals in English football, which shows his ability to find the back of the net—something the Magpies would require if Isak exits St James’ Park.

Pacey, agile and good at link-up play, the ex-Chelsea man has the required ingredients to thrive in Howe’s system and bring a regular source of goals to Newcastle. At 27, Abraham is entering the prime stages of his career—something the Geordies would like to enjoy. So, it would make sense for Newcastle to go all out for the Milan loanee’s signature to replace Isak potentially.
