FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa emerges as summer transfer target for Arsenal

FC striker Samu Aghehowa has emerged as a target for Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer target.
The Spain youth international, 20, has been thriving for FC Porto since joining the club from Atletico Madrid last summer. After a move to Chelsea broke down, he joined Porto in what is now turning out to be a smart move.
The centre-forward has bagged 20 goals and supplied three assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for the Portuguese club to date, once again putting Europe’s elite on alert. Now, Arsenal have reportedly joined his long list of admirers. They are now stepping up their interest in Samu Aghehowa, who is certain to cost a premium owing to him being contracted to Porto until 2029.
Arsenal keen on Porto striker Samu Aghehowa
Arsenal aren’t having the easiest of times at the moment. They have failed to win their last two games, not scoring a single goal in the process. And with Liverpool beating Newcastle United 2-0, the Gunners now trail Arne Slot’s men by 13 points albeit with a game in hand.
Mikel Arteta’s attacking unit has been depleted following injuries to Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli. This has unquestionably affected Arsenal’s form, and the decision to not invest in a striker during the winter transfer window is now proving to be a costly and glaring mistake.
Nonetheless, it is clear the North Londoners will spend big on a striker during the summer transfer window. They have now set their sights on Samu Aghehowa, who has been a revelation at Porto. The 20-year-old looks like he could become one of the best strikers in the world in the future, given how prolific he has been in his first season in Liga NOS after leaving Spain last year.
Powerful, pacey, athletic and robust, the Spaniard has bullied several defenders in Portugal and the Europa League. He has the qualities that are tailor-made for a striker in the Premier League, and in a fluid system at Arsenal, Aghehowa would certainly thrive with creative players providing him with required service in the box.
At just 20, the ex-Atletico Madrid talent has near-complete profile for a striker. Rated at around €50million, Arsenal must do everything possible to beat other clubs to Aghehowa’s signature in the summer.
