The 20-time English champions have struggled have struggled for both creativity and goals this season. Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo have only been the bright spots in an otherwise torrid campaign, giving the team lift in terms of goals and assists. However, with Amad sidelined with an injury, the onus to produce the goods consistently as once again fallen on the shoulders of Fernandes.
It has become a huge cause of concern for Ruben Amorim and he wants new players who can contribute to the team’s productivity consistently. Manchester United have been reportedly closely monitoring Justin Kluivert’s performances at Bournemouth for some time. Man United are likely to undergo a midfield shakeup this summer, with Christian Eriksen’s contract expiring at the end of June and Casemiro expected to be made available for departure with a year left on his deal.
Kobbie Mainoo’s future needs to be resolved as he is yet to agree on a new deal amid interest from Chelsea. Plus, Bruno Fernandes is 30 and will require replacing in the next couple of years. Kluivert has emerged as a target for the Red Devils after his scintillating displays for Bournemouth. The Netherlands international was a part of the Bournemouth side that beat Man United 3-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League, scoring a goal from the penalty spot.
At 25, Kluivert is at the right age to make the step up from the Cherries to arguably the biggest club in English football. He would be an exciting addition to the club’s growing pool of quality young talents, including Mainoo, Garnacho, Leny Yoro and Patrick Dorgu.
As the versatile playmaker is contracted until 2028, Bournemouth find themselves in a strong position to demand a hefty transfer fee for Kluivert this summer. Also, if Iraola’s side qualify for Europe, it would be difficult for United to persuade the 25-year-old to join Amorim’s forces ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
