First came saddles, then came shoes. And now, Fizik is turning its attention upward to the helmet. The Italian performance brand has launched three new helmets that it says “deliver cutting-edge performance across road, gravel, and triathlon.”

Those three helmets include the Kudo, Kudo Aero, and Kunée. Fizik claims each helmet was shaped by advancements in CFD analysis, a focus on fine-tuned fit, and an emphasis on safety. Between the airy helmet, the semi-aero helmet, and the dedicated time trial helmet, we think Fizik is set to make a big pivot toward sponsoring teams already using its saddles and shoes.

Fizik’s senior product manager Alex Locatelli also says Fizik combined for innovative style while delivering fit, function, and safety. While there’s no doubting the claimed five-star Virginia Tech helmet ratings for each helmet, we’ll leave it to you to decide what you think of the style.

Stay tuned for a first look from the Sea Otter Classic as well as a future review to see how it compares to the best cycling helmets on the market today.

Specs, sizes, and pricing

Helmet Model Sizes Colors Price For More
Kudo S (52-56cm), M (56-59cm), L (59-61cm) White, Black, Bronze £269.99 / $289.99 / €290,00 fizik.com
Kudo Aero S (52-56cm), M (56-59cm), L (59-61cm) White, Black, Silver £269.99 / $289.99 / €290,00 fizik.com
Kunée S/M (54-58cm), M/L (58-61cm) White £359.99 / $379.99 / €380,00 fizik.com
Helmet Light Not applicable Not applicable £29.99 / $29.99 / €29,00 fizik.com

Pricing is decidedly on the premium side of things, but far from the most expensive helmets out there. Kudo and Kudo Aero are within a few dollars of the likes of the Specialized S-Works Evade and Prevail helmet duo, and less expensive than the likes of Poc’s new Cytal road helmet, much less the slew of aero helmets that Josh tested.

Fizik Kudo is a lightweight helmet for road, gravel, and XC

The Kudo is the brand’s all-around lightweight helmet. Fizik touts an open shell design that prioritizes airflow without compromising safety.

Like most other Fizik helmets launched today, the Kudo features MIPS Air Node, a lightweight version of MIPS that is as close to just using internal padding as anything on the market.

Kudo gets an integrated rear light option that snaps into the back of the helmet, three sizes, a trio of colors, and a claimed weight of 320 grams in a size M CPSC model.

Want more aero? The Kudo Aero is likely for you

The Fizik Kudo Aero looks to take the Kudo chassis and make it more aero. Fizik touts subtle reshaping of the shell and strategically placed air inlets to balance ventilation with aero efficiency. We predict this will be the helmet that most road and gravel folks will want to ride.

While Fizik makes no claims about what additional watt savings there might be compared to the Kudo, the Kudo Aero still offers the same claimed 320 grams weight in a size M CPSC model.

Additionally, the Kudo Aero receives MIPS Air Node, an integrated rear light option, three sizes, and a trio of colors.

What about the most aero? Fizik offers the Kunée helmet

Fizik says its Kunée helmet is wind-tunnel optimized and CFD tested, giving it the teardrop profile, smooth shell, and corrugated side panels.

The helmet is obviously for time trial applications, but Fizik touts all of its work in incorporating additional vents, lightweight padding, and improved thermoregulation.

The Kunée ships with mirrored and clear visors, a helmet case, skips the integrated light in the pursuit of aero, and skips every color but white… for the pursuit of aero? Unsure.

Fizik claims its Kunée helmet weighs 350 grams without a visor.

As mentioned at the top, stay tuned for a first look as we check it out at the Sea Otter Classic.
