Cadillac takes crucial FIA step ahead of F1 debut

The FIA has confirmed General Motors (GM) has been officially registered as an F1 power unit manufacturer, prior to Cadillac joining the grid in 2026.

GM, as owners of the iconic brand, is the driving force behind the operation and is set to become an engine OEM from the 2029 F1 season onwards, one year later than initially planned.

McLaren dismiss Red Bull complaints with Lewis Hamilton comparison

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella is unwavering in his view of Oscar Piastri’s first-corner overtake on Max Verstappen at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The Australian’s strong launch off the line at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit allowed him to position his MCL39 up the inside of the Red Bull, getting his nose alongside through the apex and subsequently claiming the corner.

Leading motorsport figure nominated for key FIA role

Former rally star Malcolm Wilson has been nominated for the key FIA position of deputy president for sport following the recent shock resignation of Robert Reid.

After more than three years in the role, Reid stepped down ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, criticising FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, and citing a “fundamental breakdown in governance standards within motorsport’s global governing body” as the reason behind his exit.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner’s photographic evidence of Max Verstappen’s first-corner duel with Oscar Piastri in Saudi Arabia has been described as “a load of baloney”.

The Turn 1 clash at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit between Verstappen and McLaren driver Piastri has resulted in widely differing views as to whether the five-second time penalty handed to the four-time champion for going off-track and gaining an advantage was justified.

Why Mercedes is outraged by renewed F1 engine debate

Even though the first of three pre-season tests ahead of the 2026 F1 campaign is just nine months away, discussions continue over the nature of the new power units and how they will be used.

For next season, there will be a 50-50 split in the PUs between internal combustion power and the electrical element. At this stage, the rumour in the paddock is that Mercedes has an edge on its rivals.
